Real Fires (Solid Fuel)

This is the traditional and much loved method of generating a fire within a fireplace. Real fires utilise "solid fuel", typically Coal, Coke, Logs or Wood pellets. The Fuel material is burnt  to produce the characteristic heat and flames. Fuels may be varied and mixed in order to affect the fires characteristics such as burn time, heat output and fire glow.

Real fires offer extra character as they burp, crackle and pop in the throws of excitement. And as the flames die out and the hot coals glow, they offer a subtle and comforting warmth and sensation.

Gas Fires (Coal & Log Effect)

Our stock of Gas Fires - which are often referred to as "Gas Coal Effect Fires" - are primarily from the excellent Gazco and Multiglow ranges.

Visually there is little to distinguish a Gas fire from a Real fire, however because of the fact that they are Gas fed (either Natural or LPG) they do not have to be cleaned or stocked and are lit from an ignition switch similar to that on a modern Gas cooker. An additional feature of the Gazco range is the facility of remote mounted switches and infra red remote control. (That's what we call luxury).

All our Gas fires implement a flame control device which allows the intensity of the flame to be controlled. In addition the Gazco range implement their unique VFC (Variable Flame Control) technology which allows you to also vary the character of the fire - simulating glowing coke or the flickering flames of coal.
